Just did the scheduled 2 week rinse and refill on my heirloom cherry tomatoes which are at day 73. All is well. No algae or root issues. I have noticed fewer blooms, which I hope is normal given the plant has a number of tomato clusters going. Waiting for something to ripen up! My cilantro, while still having some brown bits, is doing much better in my office! Looking forward to harvesting some and starting to believe that I might be able to treat myself to cilantro lime rice in the near future.

I still have one of those, somewhere in storage. Didn't have much luck with it. I think one piece on it is broken.

I tried to grow strawberries, but never finished the project because I broke my leg. The one real disadvantage of AGs, is that you need to keep refilling the reservoirs. I had someone unplug my gardens while I was in rehab, because I didn't (and still don't) know what happens when an AG runs completely dry.

Yes, I have a grow bowl. I remember taking in down to my storage room at my condo complex. Some day I need to hire someone to empty that room out. Somebody might like the thousands of DVDs and CDs. Not to mention golf clubs and tons of electronics.

Harvested my first ever microgreens! AG spicy mix. Oh boy, they were DELICIOUS!
I think I'm going to need some sprouting trays.... It's clear the Harvest Elite will not be able to keep me supplied by itself.

Been harvesting again! First, for juice, LOTS of kale, tatsoi, some dandelions, and a couple sprigs of cilantro:To this was added half an English Cucumber, a Romaine lettuce heart, 2 Granny Smith apples, a lime, and a bit of ginger and turmeric root. It was good and hubby got some too. Next time I plant a kale garden, I think I'll limit it to three plants, because I'm getting kale up the kazoo! Then, I finished off the microgreens with my scrambled eggs:Eggs were scrambled in butter, and I just tossed the microgreens on, added a teaspoon of good olive oil and a couple pinches of Himalayan pink salt plus fresh ground pepper. So good! Now it's time to clean out and sanitize the Harvest Elite and get more microgreens going. I plan to experiment with some new grow media, using my spare pair of AG felts as a pattern. And then I want to get trays of some sort. It is clear the Harvest is not going to supply enough as it turns out I *LOVE* me some microgreens! Hubby had some to try as well, and he liked them too.

TODAY!...
Babies are always so cute!
I'm going back to my first bush bean variety. I grew 2 empress green beans in a bounty. They were very productive and had a great taste. THEN... I tried a yellow wax bean. I tried 3 plants in a bounty. They were not as productive and I suspect it was because they were crowded.
SO... this time, I'm going back to my empress variety. I'm going to put 2 in one bounty and a single plant in another bounty. I want to see if a single plant unconstrained by a second one will produce as many beans as 2 plants in a bounty.
Unfortunately, in a few days, the principle of "survival of the fittest" will result in the termination of the other seedlings.

So good! Mmmmmm. That looks so good. I do love some tossed salad and scrambled eggs. Especially that 'scrambled in butter' part. I'm going to go harvest some romaine and some chives and make breakfast now.

Hehe, Aerogardens sure are pretty when they are new. Unfortunately they don't stay that way for long.

But so lovely looking right now! Nice bean sprouts you have there! Tatsoi seems to be a plant that stays pretty through the growth cycle, although I expect if I'd gone to the bolting stage, it might not have. I should've taken a picture of the Classic 7 yesterday before harvesting, it was glorious looking! Will be interesting to see how your beans do. I'm surprised 4 plants were too much for the Bounty, as back when I grew them, I did all 6 pods in a 6E+ and thought I got a decent amount of beans, though my memory could well be off, as I was grabbing them young and eating raw on salads. But you have a different setup with lights and all, and your growth looked really good, so you are probably correct and they were too crowded.

I spent entirely too much time resetting garden clocks today since we had several power "blips." I received my stuff from the President's Day sale and assembled the bamboo shelf unit. That is my 4th one so I can get those suckers put together in record time.

Yea, I got P.O.'ed some time ago having to reset clocks after a power blip. I now have 4 of these bad boys!
I've got all my bounties on them. I still have a few harvests than need manual resets.

It has been becoming obvious that my low-bid, screw-together, MDF board shelves with genuine wood-grain paper surface weren't going to hold up under the water that I was inevitably going to spill on them. So when I saw CatHerder 's response in the kitties discussion, I looked at her metal shelves and I said "By, god, I need to get me some of those." CatHerder's Kitty Resistant ShelvesAnd so I did. These -- Amazon Basics 4-Shelf Adjustable, Heavy Duty Storage Shelving Unit on 4'' Wheel Casters, Metal Organizer Wire Rack, Black, 36" L x 14" W x 57.75" HTwo of them, and by serendipitous coincidence, they were exactly the same ones in her post. So I spent yesterday evening putting them together, and today I pulled out the MDF screw-togethers and installed the new metal racks. Ta-da! -- Left rack -- 2 Harvest Elite Slims with Merlot leaf lettuce and AG mystery greens, and on top two Harvests. The one plant you can see is a test run of New Zealand spinach. There are also a couple of basil starts. The right Harvest is empty for now. Right rack -- Cilantro on top, and some unidentified cos on the bottom. Some of it might be Parris Island, and some of it might not. I harvested some of that lettuce, too. I got a gallon Ziploc of lettuce. It went from this -- To this -- I'll harvest the rest of it before the end of the weed. I have another Harvest Elite Slim coming, and I will plant two more lettuce gardens, which should keep me in tossed salad and scrambled eggs for breakfast and Caesar or Chef salads or the occasional shrimp louie for dinner on a rotating basis. In other news, I am having to eat some word salad because even though I swore never again, I ordered something from Aerogarden. I wanted a regular, non-Elite Harvest Slim, and Amazon didn't have them. AG did, and if I bought one, I could get a Sprout for 25 bucks. So . . . We shall see how long it takes it to get here. (Their fulfillment center is in Mexico, MO, about three hours from my house, so I am figuring a week for them to get it into UPS's hands, then another week while it goes for a ride around the Midwest, maybe take in Chicago on Kansas City on the way. So what will it be? Middle of March?)

I've got all my bounties on them. I still have a few harvests than need manual resets. Now see... I would have put the Harvests on the UPS before the Bounties! I really, REALLY HATE those "manual resets" because I want them all to come on at 5:30 a.m. (Getting up early is not my favorite activity.)

I usually get up at 6 am. After 20 years of retirement, I haven't recovered from getting up early for 30 years of work. SO... my lights run from 6 am - 9 pm.

Clovis, There seems to be a million offerings of this same metal shelving design. Be careful as many are selling them cheaper by making the poles smaller diameters and the wire shelving with thinner wire.
The amazon basics shelving I found to be a reasonable price and quite sturdy and well made. I have a couple of them.
I also bought a couple of the heavy duty Omega Products shelves. They are really heavy and substantial but quite pricey.
I bought two. This one I bought for holding my weaving yarn cones:
The nice thing about the amazon listing is that you can select from quite a few dimensions. This way you can build a custom shelve to fit a particular space.
I also bought one of these:
This is perfect for hanging external lighting above your Aerogardens. Growth room up to about 5 or 6 feet.
Shipping on these come direct from the manufacturer and take quite a long time to arrive.
