This looked interesting , so I thought I'd give it a go!
So I bought a Kit off Amazon and tossed in a seed in rockwool.
So far I have good germination and a first true leaf emerging of a Diva seed.!The jar is placed between 2 AG machines for light.
Fingers crossed while singing a summer favorite along with Carly Simon

One day later and the 3rd true leaf is developing!
Anyone who does Kratky know when to feed and change water?

Gave it 2ml of AG nutrients. So far so good! I know nothing about Kratky, so I am just following what I do with AG.

I have no clue about that system either so I am learning with you by watching yours.

I am really impressed and thrilled that I can grow a cucumber plant out of a Mason Jar! Now watch me do my happy dance when I see a flower and then a cuke!

I am hoping it's not one of those "Close, But No Cigar" Projects...but even if it is a fail, it is fun because...you know... I love a mystery!

1 month update LQQK WHAT I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE!
Off to a great start and hoping for a Diva Cuke to form.Time will tell.
This variety is parthenocarpic or self pollinating. I am having to fill the jar every other day and every now and then add a few drops of AG nutes. Next time I will add a wee bit of Bloom Booster instead to push the flowers out more.

This is so promising. I like that you do not have to pollinate.

I saw some you tube videos of the Kratky method. Can’t wait to see your cucumbers! So cool!

Adding a high phosphorous bloom booster brought out more flowers as expected.
And that initial cuke has been fertilized and is plumping now. I will be happy with 1 or 2 cukes since these are not miniature ones. My next project for this method will be the mini munch which arrived this week. I have had success with those in the machines in the past and know they will produce in the Mason Jar method.

I love this project you are doing! Do you have to keep the water level up to a certain level? Your cucumber plant looks awesome!

I love this project you are doing! Do you have to keep the water level up to a certain level? Your cucumber plant looks awesome! I have never done Kratky at all , but I do know that AG needs oxygenation via a pump. So I leave the water level down a few inches, leave the cap loose, and dunk the roots up and down in the jar every morning. The roots are all in one collected mass, so it is easy. As for nutrients, when the water is low, I top off with plain water. The next time it gets low, I add 1-2 ml of AG nutrients. I have changed the topping off schedule to every 3rd day..the plant is a thirsty one, but I do not want to overfeed it.The plant is a thirsty one.
In comparison to the cukes grown in the AG, the leaves in the jar project are not crisping up at all..YET . I have another jar being delivered from Amazon today and have some mini munch cuke seeds, so will be planting those later today.
