Lynne's AG Activities

Harvested another crop of banana peppers today. The yield was nearly 3 pints of seeded, sliced peppers for pickling. I really need to save some of this plant's seeds--it is a real producer!

lynnee, how wonderful that you are getting lots of those gorgeous peppers! And a big producer is icing on the cake!

For some reason, at Day 87 the Poblano peppers in the upstairs Bounty are still reluctant to bear fruit. One plant has three poblanos developing--very slowly--but the plants (3 of them, I think) are dropping the additional fruits that had set, and are not producing many new blooms.

They're in the same room with the Farm 12 XL eggplants, and with Bounties that are producing bell peppers and tomatoes. I've tried boosting the Poblanos with some extra nutrients and CalMag+, but that just makes them want to grow into the lights (now at max height).

Current plan is to be patient, adding nutrients every 2 weeks, until the developing peppers get big enough to harvest. Then I may start over with a new garden.

Maybe I'm just being impatient.

I wonder if the Liquid Koolbloom would help?

Finally I think I've solved the mystery of why the Poblanos have failed to thrive. The Bounty Elite was placed sideways, across the room from a ceiling heat vent. The Poblano that was farthest from the vent, and shielded by the other two plants, was the only one with developing peppers.

Today I relocated the Bounty Elite, so it is no longer being hit by the air flow from the vent. I also removed the weakest plant--the one that was closest to the vent and had almost no blooms. All of the roots looked fine.

Then I pruned the remaining plants away from the lights, did an R&R, and added 12 ml AG nutrients, 5 ml CalMag+, and 2 ml Koolbloom. If the CalMag+ and Koolbloom don't kill the plants, maybe they'll do better in the new location!

Unfortunately, I dislodged a 3" Poblano during the R&R. The best plant still has 3 developing Poblanos (only one is visible in the photo), and the second plant has several babies that may develop properly now.

The bell pepper and banana pepper in the Farm Plus continue to produce! You can see some of the banana peppers at the right, and several of the bells. There are 9-10 bells coming, plus more blooms.
