Lettuce is the thing I have grown most of in an AG over the years, and this will be my first attempt with using a fan. I read the fan tip on the Aerogarden website; that it simulates wind and forces the plant to produce stiffer leaves. Sounds plausible but we'll see.
From their "Tips for Tending to Lettuce" article... "An easy way to put more bite in your lettuce is to aim a small fan at the lettuce while it is growing. The constant movement on the plants requires them to create tougher leaves to stand up to the wind. Many people find this helps create the texture they are looking for."
I have never had any problem with fungus or diseased lettuce and I almost always have a garden of lettuce in my kitchen. I have best results with romaine varieties but I love to try other types and many of them do have very wimpy leaves.

I just can’t help myself.. ordered a bunch of herb seeds from Eden brothers… they are having a sale today and I’m stocking up. Parsley, chamomile, lemon mint, compact dill, and green callaloo amaranth, a spinach substitute which will grow in extreme heat. Do I need another AG?

Seeds N Such is also having a sale today; 30% off. I probably should saunter over there and see if I "need" something. I bought my Iznik cuke seeds from them.
And of course you need another AG.
Here's how pathetic I am... I have about a thousand grow deck "spacers," everything from little rubber cactus plants to the plain black Etsy ones. Now I see the cute AG ones on the website with the little leaves on the top and I have them in my cart. The only thing keeping me from buying is the $5.99 shipping... I don't know why I have a "thing" about shipping. I guess I could buy $40 worth of pods to bump up for free ship. I play right into their hands. Sigh. |

I join you in your addiction! I found a harvest slim elite stainless steel on Amazon for $79! I ordered one, but I think I should have gotten two! I have never seen a price that low.

Well thanks a lot, Pat!! I had FOMO and bought one of those, too. The deals lately are really hard to pass up. And of course, "Prime Day" is just around the corner. Hooray!! I didn't buy anything today! (But last night... argh) Yeah, that 50% off sale for seed pods sucked me in one more time, but at least I got the cute little spacers with that order and free shipping, lol.
I have little 1" bok choy peeking above the labels, 2" tomato plants, and cuke seeds beginning to sprout. I love spending time in The Garden, sipping coffee and looking at the miracle of tiny seeds turning into plants.
I have the two "last"  sale-priced gardens coming this week; the Harvest XL and (thanks to Pat) a Slim Elite. I have a spot for the XL but I will probably test the Slim and then mothball it for a while. I'll need to figure out a place to start seedlings for my fall (outside) garden next month. |

I'm so excited! I have two tiny cucumber seedlings peeking out of the labels!! Since the Iznik cuke seeds purchase came with only FIVE seeds, I decided to be miserly and use only one seed in each grow pod (two pods). BOTH have sprouted, so 100% germination. Of course now I feel that I have "wasted" a seed since I only wanted one vine in the Bounty.
In other news, I'm expecting my last Harvest XL to come today, along with some seed pods from the sale. It's absolutely pouring rain so I'm keeping an eye on the front porch.

Cucumber seeds, particularly the Iznik, have always germinated quickly for me and, if I remember, 100%.!

I ordered two packets of them and got a total of 10 seeds. I felt ripped off but apparently they were a good buy. |

Yeah, that ol' Amazon bill! Didn't stop me from buying another Echo Show 8 at half price on pre-Prime-Day deals, though. (I just discovered that the Show will live stream my favorite TV news show.) My AG cuke seed kits arrived a little while ago. I'll get a couple of pods set up in the vacant Farm 12XL soon.  |

SLW….I’m also trying to decide on my fall/winter garden. Last year I had great success with broccoli raab so that will definitely be a go. I’m not buying anything else (at least for a while!). My harvest slim came today and then so did my Amazon bill! Oh well, at least we’re having fun. Ugh, those bills have a way of spoiling the fun!! My Harvest XL came today but the Slim won't be here till tomorrow. I'm hoping my husband doesn't give me the side-eye. "She's at it again." You'd think he'd be used to it after 30 years. |

I got my cuke seeds, too. Of course I just started the Izniks so the AG ones will have to wait. I'll be watching your updates, though! I also got the banana peppers so maybe I'll try one of those.

I opened the banana pepper pods and the fajita pepper pods today. Much to my surprise, AG had included a couple of little bags of those black AG spacers in with the pods! Now I'm annoyed that I wasted money buying some of those, plus I'll have AG spacers overload.
I started two pods of fajita peppers in the new Harvest XL.

slw, IMO you can never have enough spacers. They easily get lost when you do the R&Rs, and you always need more when you buy more AGs!
