I was just surprised to see them included in the seed pot boxes, Lynnee! I've bought tons of seed pods and never gotten spacers before.

slw, I think that the spacers are only included with the kits for the big veggies that shouldn't be planted in every deck opening. I started seeing them in the "jumbo veggies" kits a couple of years ago.

This morning, I thinned out a bunch of lettuce pods that had three or four seeds that had germinated. I planted some of the removed sprouts. I've never done this before, so I'm excited to see how it changes the lettuce growth.
I'm curious: are there any plants that you don't bother to thin out--ones where extra sprouts don't seem to hurt? I also have some chamomile with four or five sprouts in a pod, and I'm not sure if I should pull out the extra sprouts.

I never thin my lettuce. If they get too crowded as they grow I just harvest one of the plants in a crowded pod. But usually that’s not necessary. I never grew chamomile but I have the perennial Roman chamomile seeds on order. I’m not going to thin them because I plan on transplanting them outside.  |

AG says that you don't need to thin lettuce or flowers. I think that the same is true for herbs. As patlab said, you can always harvest or thin later if a pod is too crowded. You do want to keep only one plant per pod for tomatoes and vegetables. Good luck with your transplant! Usually these do pretty well, as long as the seedling has a healthy root.  |

Join the club! Marvel of Four Seasons is the one AG lettuce that I find hard to grow. The only time that it succeeded is when I put it into the one Bounty that lettuce and peppers always love. Maybe MoFS is more sensitive to room conditions than other varieties?  |

Maybe it is more sensitive, lynnee, but I feel like with a name like "Marvel of Four Seasons," it should be more adaptable! |

I think so, too, gingercat! That's why I keep trying, and even ordered a packet of MoFS seeds. There's got to be a solution to growing the dang stuff--especially since AG sells pods with it. |

I ordered a 1' light pole extension for the Harvests from an Etsy seller ...
Just wanted to correct this. The extension is not 1' long--it's actually about half that-- and I don't know why I had the impression it was.  It's well made and works as advertised so I'm pleased with it, though. |

Today I moved my strawberry crowns from my Farm 12 XL to two Bounty Elites. (The Farm will get a cucumber.) I've had the crowns for seven days, and they got their first rinse and refill today. The looked nearly dead when I received them through the mail, so I'm happy they've perked up and grown leaves. These are actually on top of my cabinets, providing overhead light for the whole kitchen! |

The strawberries look awesome. I am so jealous as I have not been able to find any plants.
Had a bit of a setback on my peppers, cukes and zucchini. This morning before dawn we had a terrible thunderstorm with high winds. My Pepperoncini broke off right below the roots. Stuck it back in its pot but it’s not looking good. It had around a dozen peppers on it too. I also had my zucchini and cukes on my covered patio hardening them off. Well the wind swept them out of their containers. I managed to retrieve them and repotted them. Wish me luck! Luckily I have more plants in the aerogarden that I didn’t have time to pot yet to prepare them for the great outdoors. Hopefully the rest of my week goes better.

I just got some kind of "handshake failure" notice when I tried to post, and lost my fascinating update.  Not sure what that's all about.
Anyway, as far as what I'm doing with my AGs... I have 8 of them going right now and I'm making myself crazy(er) trying to coordinate the light schedules. Getting up at 5 a.m. to reset gardens is wearing on my nerves... and for some reason, two of them are being rebellious and refusing to reset.
OCD people really should avoid AGs.  |
