I was exploring the AeroGarden pods offered on Amazon yesterday and stumbled across the Fairy Tale Eggplants. So pretty! I am intrigued but can't see myself paying Amazon's $35 price tag.
I was wondering if anyone here has planted miniature eggplants, whether it was successful, and what kind of seeds you used.

just curious about the purpose of the blue tape Diane. It was cheaper than buying spacers to cover up the holes not in use. I expected that the eggplants would take up a lot of space, based on pictures I've seen online, but they are growing so slowly I was thinking about putting in something that will grow fast and be harvested before the eggplants get big.

I added a link of MaryL's project from a while back and you can get an idea of the size and the timeline from this thread. The seed is different, but comparable. Perhaps it will help. They ARE slow growers, like peppers.

Seeing the timeline was especially helpful. I probably would have given up too soon without knowing how long it took MaryL to find flowers.

16 days in, and my fairy tales are VERY happy now that I've clipped out the competitors and left only one plant per pod. Now that I know they grow slowly, I've filled in the space I allotted for these plants with some baby bok choy which -- if they perform as advertised -- can be harvested in 30 days. Hopefully the bok choy will be long-since-sauteed-and-eaten by the time the eggplants need the real estate!

Very nice. I never bothered to check to see if any of my peppers were ready in the time they advertised . I should make note next time.

Day 23 for my fairy tale eggplants and Day 8 for the baby bok choy. I'm leaving town for a few days and my gardens will be tended by the house sitter. I'll worry about my plants as much as I worry about my cats. Can't wait to see how much they grow while I'm gone! The plants, I mean. I expect the cats to remain approximately the same size.

I was only gone for 4 days, and I can't believe how much my plants grew in my absence! The fairy tale eggplants are on Day 30. To their left, the baby bok choy is on Day 15, halfway to harvest, and the tomatoes are on Day 32, growing as I expected. The bok choy will be coming out just in time. Those fairy tales are spreading their wings! Meanwhile, in my other garden, my lettuce turned into a jungle. Even the plants I thought were waning came back strong. I invited my housesitter to harvest a salad, but she obviously didn't. I think one of the cats is bigger and heavier too. But he's still a kitten, so growth spurts are allowed!

Day 36 for the Eggplants. Meanwhile the baby bok choy, which was supposed to take 4 weeks to mature, was ready for a partial harvest in its 3rd week. I clipped the largest leaves for a stir fry, leaving the smaller leaves to keep growing. I plan on harvesting the rest of it later this week. I have a recipe all picked out: Lemon and Garlic Sauteed Bok Choy. Yum! I notice some of the bok choy leaves have turned yellow-green, unlike the rest of the dark green healthy leaves. I don't know why. I'm sure the eggplants are growing on schedule. But the fast-producing baby bok choy has made me a little resentful of the slow-growing eggplants. Even though I reserved this garden for experiments, I find myself side-eyeing the eggplants and wondering if they deserve the space they will be taking up. Hmm ... production vs experimentation. Anybody else feel the conflict?

Yes, I feel the conflict.
I like fast growing plants in my Aerogardens. I also do Kratky hydroponics and have my eggplants, peppers, and tomatoes in those systems. Since they are in a closet, I just let them do their thing and don't obsess about them.
But I want to see action in the Aerogardens!

I have got my eye particularly focused on the abundance of buds on the toms!
