Thank you for the welcome! I don’t actually have my aerogarden yet, but I am getting the bounty elite for Christmas. I’m very excited to get started and just trying to read up on tips and advice from everyone. I’m hoping to start off with some lettuce and basil.

I bought my wife an aerogarden at the beginning of the week, Xmas present. Then, bearing in mind some of the ridiculous deals on the ag website, I bought another. Then I found this forum and learned the reality of how to get the best out of them, so I bought a few more. But two are second hand, and all were good to excellent deals, does that excuse me?
Obviously, I acquired plenty of odd bits like air pumps, shelving, filters and that sort of thing, but I'm sure she'll love it. I really hope so anyway.
Less than 100 dollars for harvest 360s, aerovoirs for 32$ and less than 200 for Bountys, crazy prices on that as site.
If we're splitting hairs, it's 2 bountys, 2 harvest 360s, 2 harvests and a sprout!
Thanks to everyone who posts here, its been a huge help and my credit card provider is particularly pleased.

It doesn't bode well for your wallet if you're hooked before you've started growing, but welcome! If you have any questions, feel free to use the Search at the top of the site or post in the forums. Once you and your wife start experimenting with the DIY pods and growing your own seeds, next thing you know you'll be shopping around for rare varieties and building your own seed vault

Hi, Welcome duncwood. Nice present for the wife. I am sure she will love it all. Nothing wrong second hand units either.
I am thrilled you are finding the forum helpful. I look forward to seeing all the things you will be growing

Hi.
Thanks for the welcome. I do have some questions if you guys could help me with them that would be much appreciated.
1) I am growing mini tomatoes (3 pods from Aerogarden) in an Aerogarden Bounty Basic. Could I add more pods? Or would that be a bad idea? I don’t want to crowd too many plants into my device but I do have more of my own tomato seeds that could be planted...all are varies of cherry or grape tomatoes.
2) I ordered another Bounty Basic for peppers and cucumbers....Wondering if growing cucumbers with bell peppers is recommended? I have my own seeds and will using the grow anything pods.
Please advise. Many cheers.

My answers are based on my experiences, so they are not written in stone. YMMV.
I would recommend no more than two tomatoes in a Bounty. They get pretty wide, and you would be continually having to cut off leaves and branches that were shading each other out.
You would probably have to remove leaves and some branches, even with one, to keep larger upper leaves from shading out and killing the lower leaves. Also you will need to remove some lower leaves to provide air circulation to prevent fungal diseases. So I recommend two per Bounty.
I would not grow a pepper and cucumber together due to their needing different nutrient strengths as they grow.
However, I do not have great luck with cucumbers. So I will tag Shawn and @cornne to answer your questions since they have both grown cucumbers successfully.

Okay. Thank you! I have another Bounty Basic on order. So when it arrives, one of my three already planted mini tomatoes will be moved to the new one.

Hello! I would suggest no more then two plants in the Bounty. They get full and you want them to have some air flow. If you take a look at the Gardens we have you can check out what other members are growing to get an idea As for peppers and cukes. I would grow two peppers or one cuke. But I only grew cukes once. Do a search to check out who has grown them and see how they grow. You would need a trellis for the tendrils. Not the AG trellis either. I know not much help but lets see who else chimes in Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

Might someone point me to instructions to post pictures smaller & with a link to bigger? The photos that say: This image has been reduced by 23.4%. Click to view full size.
Thanks for any help!

Whit site do you use? I only know Flikr... Yes, that's what I've started with, Flikr. It seemed to be the easiest. All a learning curve for me! I'm used to forums hosted by Texas A & M, and such. No pictures allowed.

Might someone point me to instructions to post pictures smaller & with a link to bigger? The photos that say: This image has been reduced by 23.4%. Click to view full size. Thanks for any help! I have been using Imgur - once you upload a photo, you can right click on it and do "Copy Image Location", which will give you a link that ends with ".jpg", ".png" or similar. Once you have that link, you can click the button and give it the link, which will embed it into your post. The size text ("click to view full size") will only appear if you embed a large photo into a post - so if you use a site that shrinks down your photos, or if your photo is small to begin with, then that text won't appear. (like how it didn't appear for the little button picture I used right above this)

I edit my own photos and resize them on my tablet, then upload them to my own domain. So I didn't know how to answer.

Check out the Photo Repository thread. I use several if them, Flickr, Imgur, Vgy. As for the resize, I have the forum set up to do that. So if anyone posts large pictures it will size to that as a default. Of course anything smaller will be as sized.
