Hi All,
Newbe here. Bought an AeroGarden Harvest. Planted the herbs that came with it. All are coming up nice. Am thinking of getting a 2nd one to plant cherry tomatoes and salad greens.
Wondering, which unit(s) do you all have?

Hello carol, welcome to the forum. The Harvest is one of my favorite machines. I have Harvests, Bountys, and Farms. I had the Ultra, Sprout and the now discontinued Extra.
Be sure to check out the different boards and also the Members gardens to see what everyone is growing and in what machines.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about your garden(s).

I have Bountys and Harvests -- lots of them.
The Harvests are my favorite, but I also love the extra growing height of the Bounty for taller plants.

Hello, my name is Liv and I'm a newbie plant mom who has previously only had some succulents and a pothos. I was gifted an Aerogarden Bounty Basic (9 spaces) for Christmas and am very excited and also very intimidated.
So far things have largely been going well. We planted two bell pepper plants, one heirloom cherry tomato and one golden harvest tomato. I've already determined this might have been a bit ambitious with how big the plants have been getting. I'm on day 28 and have encountered 2 problems so far.
1. My Harvest Tomato plant is struggling. It's lower stems started bowing and wilting and came to a point where a tiny amount of pressure would make them fall right off. The top of the plant and main stem still seem healthy, but I'm worried that it will only get worse. I'll be doing a full refresh and refill tonight as well as adding the nutrients, which I'm hoping will help. I've also ordered some CAL-MAG on advice from the Aerogarden reddit.
2. Just today we discovered some small thing white ish larvae in the top of the soil sponge of 1 bell pepper, not actually on the stem or leaves. Unsure if these are gnat larvae, pot worms, or something else but I want to get rid of them, obviously without damaging the plants. So far they only appear to be on the one plant but i want to prevent the infestation growing. What are some safe options to use to get rid of pests?

liv1321 If it's just the lower branches on the tomato that are struggling, they may just need to be pruned off. Others may have better advice, as I've only grown tomatoes in an AG once, and it was quite a while ago. But I do seem to remember keeping the lower part of the plant pruned quite a lot. As for the bugs, start with a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide in the water of the Bounty and see if that helps. Peroxide is harmless to both plants and people when added to water, but will kill bugs and algae. You may also want to swab the tops of all the sponges with a Q-tip dipped in peroxide to kill anything on the surface.

Do you know if it's okay to add the peroxide right after adding nutrients, or should I put the nutrients off for a few days and just do the peroxide?

I usually add peroxide and nutrients at the same time and haven't had any trouble

Buying a Harvest for seed starting for the Farms will help you keep producing food without long gaps waiting for new seeds to germinate in the Farms.
You have obviously done your homework!
Welcome!
